Poynette is a village in Columbia County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,528 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. ==History== Poynette was named after Pierre Paquette (1796–1836), one of the early fur traders and settlers of south central Wisconsin. Paquette's name was misread because of a slip of a pen, and read as Poynette.〔http://www.poynettechamber.com/history.html〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】title= Profile for Poynette, Wisconsin, WI )〕 The community was incorporated in 1892.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title= Poynette, Wisconsin )〕
